Web design for builders
For builders, the website is the portfolio.
An extension or a renovation is one of the largest purchases a household will ever make outside the house itself. People research for weeks, shortlist quietly, and rule firms out long before they ever make contact. Most of that judgement is made looking at photographs.
How your customers actually search
Get this wrong and the rest of the site is decoration. These are the patterns that shape what we build.
The decision takes weeks, and you are not there for most of it
Homeowners planning an extension will look at a dozen builders over a month or more, almost entirely without contacting any of them. They are forming a shortlist from what they can see. A firm with three phone snaps and no detail gets cut from that list without ever knowing it happened.
Finished work does the selling
Nothing you write persuades like a set of proper photographs of a finished job, ideally with a line about what it involved. This is the single biggest difference between building firms that get enquiries online and ones that rely entirely on word of mouth.
Cost is the unspoken question
Almost nobody publishes prices in this trade, which is understandable when every job differs. But the question is being asked regardless, and searches like "extension cost" have real volume. A page that explains honestly what drives the price, even without quoting figures, tends to earn both traffic and trust.
The pages we would build you
Not a template. This is the structure we would actually propose for a builder business, and why each page earns its place.
Home
Lead with finished work. Photographs above the fold, not a stock image of scaffolding.
Extensions
The highest-intent service you offer and the most searched. Needs its own page with its own gallery.
Renovations and refurbishments
Different customer, different budget, different photographs.
Loft conversions
A specific, well-searched term that people type verbatim.
New builds
Only if you do them. A page for work you do not want is worse than no page.
Project gallery
The page people actually spend time on. Organised by job type, with real detail.
How we work
Answers the fear behind every building enquiry: will you turn up, and will you finish.
Areas we cover
Building work is geographically limited. Say where you go before anyone wastes a call.
Contact
A form that asks what the project is and roughly when, so you can qualify before you drive out.
Where your memberships belong
FMB membership, TrustMark registration, NHBC or a structural warranty provider all reduce the perceived risk of handing someone a five-figure job, and they belong near your work rather than tucked into a footer. So does your insurance. If you offer a guarantee on your work, say so plainly and say what it covers, because that is what a nervous homeowner is really trying to establish.

Questions, answered
We build for local trade and service businesses, and building work has an obvious centre of gravity: galleries of finished projects, a page per service, and clear answers to the fears behind a big job. That is how we would structure it. We will not pretend to a portfolio full of builders — look at our recent work and judge it on quality.
Usually, yes. Phone photographs of finished work are far more persuasive than stock imagery, and modern phone cameras are more than good enough. We will tell you which shots are worth using and what is missing, and on the Standard and Pro plans you can send new job photos over each month for us to add.
Your domain, your content and your data are yours and leave with you whenever you go. The design and build itself stays with us and is included for as long as you are on a plan, which is what lets us charge a monthly fee rather than a large sum up front.
Plans start at £50 a month ex VAT with no setup fee, and run on a 12-month term that covers the cost of the build instead of a large bill up front. After that it rolls month to month. Full details are on our pricing page.
Most sites go live within three to four weeks of starting. We agree the structure and the content first, then build, and you review everything on a private link before anything is published.
