Cirencester Google Ads for the district’s business hub

Cirencester holds over 30% of Cotswold District’s jobs, about 13,500 by the council’s count, and is where the district goes for business services, finance, shopping and public services. That makes it a working town first, so we would plan Google Ads here around residents, staff and nearby villages before visitors. Our management fee is £150 a month, with your ad spend on top.

The Cirencester market02

Offices, micro-firms and a busy Market Place

Cotswold District Council calls Cirencester by far the most dominant economic centre in the district. St James’s Place has its registered office in the town, Corin makes medical devices here, and the former Mitsubishi UK headquarters at Watermoor is now serviced offices for nearly 100 organisations. The Royal Agricultural University adds students and staff, and is planning an Innovation Village worth more than £100m on its campus.

Almost 90% of the district’s 5,500-plus businesses are micro firms with nine or fewer staff. For them every click has to count, so we would favour tight keyword lists, call tracking and modest daily budgets over broad campaigns. Love Lane Industrial Estate alone has more than 150 businesses across light industry, retail, creative work and engineering, each with its own customers to reach.

Some competition comes from outside. Swindon and Cheltenham are both within about half an hour, and big-ticket searches such as kitchens, cars or legal work can easily go to firms there. Ads that say plainly you are in Cirencester, with showroom, parking or appointment details, give local buyers a reason to stay.

Targeting03

Setting the radius around Cirencester

We would start with the town and its own districts, Chesterton, Stratton, Watermoor and The Beeches, then add villages such as Siddington and Kemble where you serve or deliver. Kemble has the nearest station, with trains to London Paddington, so some customers and staff arrive by rail and weekday morning and evening ads are worth testing. The A417 Missing Link, due to be finished in 2027, is worth watching too, since it may change how far people will travel in.

For trades and services, we would pick the location option that counts only people who live in, or regularly visit, the area. Retailers chasing polo spectators or Advent Market visitors can widen it to people showing interest in Cirencester for those weeks alone.

Cirencester sectors with a clear case for ads

Financial and professional services

With St James’s Place registered here and the district’s business services concentrated in the town, advisers, accountants and solicitors face buyers who compare carefully. We would run exact match campaigns on specific services, send clicks to pages with named people and credentials, and measure booked calls rather than visits.

Love Lane trade firms

The 150-plus businesses on Love Lane Industrial Estate include engineering, light industry and creative firms, some of which may sell well beyond the town. We would target nearby villages for local jobs, test wider trade searches in a separate campaign, and use location assets so buyers can find the right unit.

Market Place retail

Charter Market days on Monday and Friday and farmers’ markets twice a month bring regular footfall into the Market Place. Shops, cafés and stallholders can schedule ads for those mornings, mention the market in the copy, and use Google Business Profile updates to say what is on.

When demand moves in Cirencester

Every Monday and Friday
Charter Market in the Market Place, plus an antiques and collectables market at the Corn Hall on Fridays. A weekly pattern like this suits ad scheduling rather than bigger budgets.
2nd and 4th Saturdays
Farmers’ Market in the town centre. Food producers and nearby cafés can run small Saturday morning campaigns timed to market days.
April to September
Cirencester Park Polo Club stages more than 300 games, with spectators welcome. Hospitality and retail can target visitor searches through the season.
Late November
The Advent Market and Christmas lights switch-on bring over 200 stalls. Gift retailers can start Christmas campaigns that week and keep them running into December.

How a Cirencester account usually starts

  1. 01

Audit your current account, or plan a new one, around the town’s districts and the villages you serve, checking that budget is not leaking to searches in larger towns nearby that you cannot realistically win.

  2. 02

Set up call and form tracking, then link your Google Business Profile so location assets show your Cirencester address, whether that is the Market Place, Watermoor or a unit on Love Lane.

  3. 03

Build an ad schedule around the town’s own rhythm: Charter Market days, farmers’ market Saturdays and, for visitor-facing firms, the polo season from April and the Advent Market in late November.

FAQ06

Questions from Cirencester businesses

It can be, if it is kept small and specific. Almost 90% of Cotswold District businesses have nine or fewer staff, and few can afford wasted clicks. We would start with a handful of high-intent keywords, a tight radius around the town and the villages you serve, and call tracking. Management is £150 a month plus spend, month to month, so you can stop with 30 days’ notice if it does not pay.

Make the case for Cirencester in the ad itself. Swindon is roughly half an hour away, so a buyer comparing kitchens, cars or professional advice will see firms from both towns. We would bid on searches that include Cirencester or nearby villages such as Siddington, write ads that mention appointments and parking, and avoid broad terms where you would be competing with much bigger advertisers on price.

It might. The A417 Missing Link is under construction, with completion due in 2027, and a quicker road can make longer trips feel easier in both directions. We would keep the targeting under review once it opens, compare enquiries by location, and widen the radius if more customers start arriving from further away. Until then, we would plan around the journeys people make today.
