Google Ads for Quedgeley, Kingsway and Hunts Grove

Quedgeley has the only parish-level council in Gloucester, a town council covering Quedgeley and Kingsway, and its newer estates keep adding households. We set up Google Ads for businesses serving this patch, from Waterwells and the A38 down to J12, from £150 a month plus ad spend, with no setup fee.

The Quedgeley market02

Young estates, retail parks and Waterwells

Much of Quedgeley’s demand comes from homes that did not exist twenty years ago. Kingsway was built on the former RAF Quedgeley site, which closed in 1995, with development starting in 2006, and Vistry is adding another 150 homes. Hunts Grove, planned for about 1,750 homes, is sold as Quedgeley GL2 even though a different council planned it and it has its own parish council.

New households need plumbers, electricians, cleaners, childcare and someone to fix the fence, and many will not yet have a list of people to call. That makes trade and home-service searches the ones most worth paying for here, especially those made on a phone.

Shopping is concentrated in retail parks rather than a high street: the Tesco Extra at Quedgeley Retail Park, and Asda, Lidl, B&M and PureGym on Newhaven Road at Kingsway. Then there is Waterwells Business Park off the A38 near J12, home to the county police and fire and rescue headquarters, and St Modwen Park by the junction, planned for about 935,000 sq ft of employment space. People working there are a weekday audience for food, fitness and services.

Targeting03

Drawing the J12 and A38 catchment

We would not rely on a single radius from the middle of Quedgeley. We would add Quedgeley and Hardwicke as locations where Google Ads recognises them, then fill the gaps around Kingsway and Hunts Grove with a modest radius around J12 that also covers the business parks. Hunts Grove matters because it sits in a different council area, so a target drawn on council lines could leave out some of the newest streets.

For trades, presence is the right setting: you want people who live or work here, not people elsewhere reading about the area. Broader city-wide terms can sit in their own campaign with their own budget, so they never eat into the local one.

Quedgeley businesses with the clearest case for ads

Trades and home services

About 1,750 planned homes at Hunts Grove, the Kingsway estate on the old RAF site and Vistry’s 150 more mean a steady run of households looking for plumbers, roofers, landscapers and cleaners. We would bid on service terms that name Kingsway and Hunts Grove as well as Quedgeley, and use call ads for urgent jobs.

Family and fitness

Households near the Newhaven Road retail at Kingsway look for childcare, tutors, classes and gyms close to home. PureGym is already there, so an independent studio needs ads that make its difference plain, shown to a tight area around Kingsway and Quedgeley rather than further afield.

Weekday trade near Waterwells

Waterwells Business Park and St Modwen Park bring people to the J12 side of Quedgeley for the working day. Caterers, lunch spots, vehicle services and business suppliers can schedule ads for weekday hours in a small radius around the junction, with presence targeting so they reach the people actually working there.

First month05

How a Quedgeley account usually starts

  1. 01

Check that your location targeting picks up Hunts Grove. Because it falls under a different council but is marketed under the Quedgeley name, it is easy to leave out, and those are some of the newest households in the area.

  2. 02

Split searches that name Quedgeley, Kingsway, Hardwicke or Hunts Grove from broader searches, so you can see which places actually produce calls and cut the ones that bring jobs you would rather not drive to.

  3. 03

If you serve the business parks, build a weekday campaign around J12 and the A38 covering both business parks, kept apart from your household ads so each has a budget of its own.

FAQ06

Questions from Quedgeley businesses

Usually as one area with separate keywords. Quedgeley Town Council covers both, but people living on the former RAF Quedgeley land may well search with Kingsway in the query. We would put both names in your keywords and ad text, track calls from each, and only split the budget if one clearly behaves differently from the other.

For your customers it often does, since homes there are sold as Quedgeley GL2. On paper it is different: Stroud District Council planned its roughly 1,750 homes and it has its own parish council. Google’s place boundaries may not match how people describe where they live, so we would cover Hunts Grove with its own radius target and name it in your ads.

It can be for the right business. Waterwells Business Park, off the A38 near J12, holds the county police and fire and rescue headquarters, and St Modwen Park nearby is planned for about 935,000 sq ft of employment space. A lunch, fitness or vehicle business could run weekday-only ads in a small radius there and judge the results on bookings after a month or two.
