Google Ads services in Cheltenham, from Montpellier to GCHQ
Cheltenham’s year runs on a calendar few towns have: four days of racing in March that drew 226,223 people in 2026, then the jazz, science, music and literature festivals. Our Google Ads services in Cheltenham are built around that calendar and the town’s steady everyday trade, on 30 days’ notice from £150 a month plus ad spend.

As a Head of Marketing, I've worked with a number of external agencies supporting us with Google Ads, and SearchMaven stands out for its strategic approach and consistent performance.
Working with William has been a pleasure he's a great person to work with, technically highly competent but also full of ideas.
Had a great time working with the team. Very experienced team, fast moving and affordable. Would recommend.
Racing, festivals and a growing cyber cluster
Cheltenham has two economies running side by side. One is the event calendar: the Festival in March, then The Showcase in late October, the November Meeting, a December meeting and New Year’s Day racing, with the Jazz, Science, Music and Literature festivals spread from late April to mid October. In those weeks, demand for rooms, tables, taxis and last-minute services jumps for a few days, and so does the cost of advertising for them.
The other runs all year. Independents in Montpellier, The Suffolks and Tivoli, and along Bath Road and the Promenade, sell to an affluent local audience that compares before it buys. The Cheltenham BID was renewed in October 2025 with 82% voting yes, so town-centre promotion behind those streets continues to March 2031.
Then there is business-to-business demand. GCHQ’s Doughnut at Benhall employs about 5,500 people, and Golden Valley, the cyber development next to it, appointed its first-phase contractor in September 2025 with building planned from spring 2026. Suppliers, recruiters, consultancies and property firms selling into that cluster need search terms about the work, not the town.
Where a Cheltenham account should show
For a Montpellier boutique or a café in The Suffolks, we would start with presence targeting on Cheltenham itself and the districts people shop from, such as Pittville, Charlton Kings, Leckhampton and Prestbury. Race-week and festival campaigns are the exception: a hotel or taxi firm wants visitors planning from elsewhere, so those campaigns would use presence or interest and run only on the relevant dates.
B2B campaigns aimed at Benhall and Golden Valley need a wider net, because the people deciding may commute in. M5 Junction 10 is being rebuilt until spring 2029, so we would review the map as the works progress.

Hospitality and stays
Hotels, restaurants, bars and taxis see their busiest searches in race weeks and festival weeks. We would run a standing campaign all year, then a separate event campaign with its own budget for the March Festival and the autumn and winter meetings, so a spike never drains the everyday account.
Montpellier and Suffolks independents
Boutiques, salons, galleries and food shops in Montpellier, The Suffolks and Tivoli compete on quality rather than price. Their ads should name the district, lead to a landing page that looks as good as the shop, and stay focused on people who live in Cheltenham or visit it often.
Cyber and tech B2B
With about 5,500 people at GCHQ in Benhall and Golden Valley under construction beside it, there is a professional audience for IT services, recruitment, training and specialist consultancy. We would run these campaigns on precise service terms, with lead forms that ask the right questions, and measure them over a longer sales cycle.
When demand moves in Cheltenham
- March
- The four-day Cheltenham Festival ran from 10 to 13 March in 2026 and drew 226,223 racegoers, up 3.7%. Hospitality and transport budgets need setting well ahead.
- Late April to mid October
- The Jazz Festival opens the season in late April, followed by Science in early June, Music in early July and Literature in mid October.
- Late October to New Year’s Day
- The Showcase, the November Meeting, a December fixture and New Year’s Day racing bring a second run of race days for hotels, restaurants and taxis.
How a Cheltenham account usually starts
- 01
Put next season’s race days and festival dates into the account calendar, then build a separate campaign for each peak so its budget, ads and schedule can rise and fall without touching your everyday Cheltenham campaign.
- 02
Check the search terms for racing and festival queries leaking into everyday campaigns, and add negatives where they bring clicks from visitors who will never come to the shop, salon or office.
- 03
If you sell to the cyber cluster, write separate ad groups for services aimed at GCHQ suppliers and for Golden Valley fit-out or property work, and track each lead through to a sale, since these deals take longer than a table booking.

Questions from Cheltenham businesses
If you sell to racegoers, usually yes, but in its own campaign. The 2026 Festival ran from 10 to 13 March and drew 226,223 people, and hotels, restaurants and taxis all compete for those few days. Keeping that spend separate stops it swallowing your normal budget and lets us judge the week on bookings. Businesses that do not serve visitors may do better holding back during the peak.
Not by employer, and we would not try. What we can do is target the area around Benhall, where the Doughnut has about 5,500 staff and the Golden Valley cyber campus is being built, and bid on the services those organisations and their suppliers search for. For B2B work in Cheltenham, the search terms do most of the targeting and the location setting does the rest.
They may change how people travel rather than how your ads run. The all-movements upgrade at Junction 10 had its main works approved in June 2026 and is due to finish in spring 2029. If your customers come in from the motorway, we would watch calls and visits from that side of town and adjust the location targeting or ad schedule if the pattern shifts.
