Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 2026

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. We also use similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage. In this policy we refer to all of these as “cookies”.

Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to work. Others are optional and help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.

How we use cookies

We use cookies in accordance with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR. Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent. For all other cookies, we ask for your consent first.

We do not place any analytics or marketing cookies, and the tools that use them do not activate, until you have given consent through our cookie banner. When you first visit, you can accept or reject non-essential cookies, or choose exactly which categories to allow. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the button further down this page.

The cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These are required for the website to function and to remember your cookie choice. They cannot be switched off.

Analytics (set only with your consent)

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website so we can improve it. They are only placed if you accept analytics cookies.

NameProviderPurposeDuration
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes unique visitors for traffic analysis2 years
_ga_H3RFW30CJRGoogle AnalyticsMaintains GA4 session state2 years
_clckMicrosoft ClarityStores a Clarity user identifier and preferences1 year
_clskMicrosoft ClarityConnects multiple page views into a single session1 day
CLIDMicrosoft ClarityIdentifies the device the first time Clarity sees it1 year

Microsoft Clarity records anonymised session replays and heatmaps (such as mouse movements, clicks and scrolling) to help us see where the site can be improved. Text you type into forms is masked by default. Clarity is provided by Microsoft Corporation, which may process this data outside the UK.

We also use Vercel Analytics for aggregated, privacy-friendly visit counts. It does not set cookies and does not identify you, but for transparency we still load it only after you accept analytics cookies.

Marketing (set only with your consent)

We advertise on Google. These cookies let Google Ads measure which of our adverts lead to an enquiry (conversion measurement) and support more relevant advertising. They are only placed if you accept marketing cookies; without consent, Google receives only anonymous, cookieless signals.

NameProviderPurposeDuration
_gcl_auGoogle AdsStores a click identifier so conversions can be attributed to the advert that was clicked3 months
_gcl_awGoogle AdsStores the Google Ads click information (GCLID) for conversion measurement3 months

Managing your cookie preferences

You can update or withdraw your consent at any time using the button below:

You can also control cookies in other ways:

  • Browser settings— most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. Refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions. Deleting cookies set before you withdrew consent is the most reliable way to remove them.
  • Google Analytics opt-out— you can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Disabling cookies will not stop the website working, but some pages may be less useful to us in understanding how to improve them.

Third-party cookies

The analytics and marketing cookies above are set by third parties (Google and Microsoft). We do not control these cookies and they are governed by the relevant provider's own privacy policy. Where consent is required, we ask for it before these cookies are placed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
